LOOM
is a space
for the near future.

This space might be a private white cube that allows visitors to isolate themselves with an artwork by appointment.

This space might be a shared office, where individuals with reservations are welcome to spend a few shared hours.

This space might be a playground for design ideas and all their potential applications.

Mostly, LOOM is always becoming, an undefined space in which a possible object and an unexpected person might by chance come together for a brief moment in time.

About LOOM

LOOM is inspired by Na Kim’s long-term interest in “space”. Over the years, moving between Korea and Europe, she began to feel attuned to the ways bodies adapt to times of uncertainty. Constant environmental change often brings solitude, Kim noticed, and the mind regularly travels to places where memories dwell. After moving to Berlin in 2021, Kim wanted to set up a work environment in which various perspectives on space can intermingle.

Conventional studios or ateliers often showcase personal struggles, thought processes and works-in-progress, but LOOM is a place that functions more like a transparent layer—one that makes visible the circulation of ideas and completed works, facilitating new interactions.

Chapter, Bookmark, and Appendix

The book is a vital space for experiences of many kinds, whether structural, haptic, visual or imagined. LOOM structures its activities to mirror the architecture of the book by organising its output into three distinct yet complementary sections: Chapter, Bookmark and Appendix.

Our Chapters feature LOOM’s primary activities, including exhibitions, gatherings and public events. The Bookmark showcases the daily existence of our space—marking the pages in its ongoing story. And finally, our Appendix allows individuals to schedule their own private experience at LOOM and become part of its ever-growing reams of supplementary information. During a session of Appendix, our curated Playlist complements the atmosphere, together with a recommended Booklist.
